Stayed there for the month of May. VERY CLEAN, well-maintained, incredibly responsive managament and staff, lovely furnishings, great location (five minute walk to the Plaza!). A lovely experience!
A very nice place for a couple. Great location, near by DeVargas mall, Albertson and Sunflower Market. A french bakery around the corner. Very quiet, well maintained. A 10 minute walk to the Plaza and 15 minute walk to Canyon Road.
My wife & dog & me stayed here in October and absolutely loved it. The neighborhood was awesome, we loved walking to downtown. It was central to so many places. The weather was awesome, the actual casita was clean, very homey, well decorated, and perfect for making some dinner on the cold evenings. The hot tub was awesome, and we hope to stay there again sooner than later.
I did not know who the property mgr was on site. The internet connection was available but I could not get on the net even though I was connected either wireless or hardwired. I would stay here again.
All of the units are so charming and beautiful set up. The out door area is great, Our unit "Casa Chiquita" was small, but it was expected. Still very functional and great use of space. The closeness to the Square is great, however, the alley looked a bit scary at first when we drove in. The only problem that we had was the Carbon Monoxide detector went off several times, but I realized that the TV remote is setting it off ! You may want to check that out. Also, the directions given from ABQ are confusing and could be a bit better ( I noticed the same thing with directions to the unit in Taos) . . . e.g. when mentioning a turn, say Left or Right !
Its was awsome not to have to go through a long check in-out process...did everything on the phone and email on the way into Santa Fe...I would recomend not only the Casita but Digital Nomad to all ofmy friends and family!!
The casita was in a perfect location. Far enough from the old town square to be quiet but close enough to walk. The kitchen was well furnished and the bed was very comfortable. It was too cold and wet to use the outdoor fireplace, but when we come back, we will definately use it to relax with a bottle of wine.
Will go back again....
Overall I had a wonderful time at the Casita. It was quiet and peaceful. It is a five - 10 minute walk to the plaza but the neighborhood is comfortable to walk in. The Sunflower grocery store and a very cute french bakery and resturant are very close at the other end of Duran. My only issues were the wi-fi connection for Chiquita never worked. A temporary fix was made by the young man who was filling in for Gordy. But even that fix did not always work. Also, I could not pick up cell service in the casita (I have AT&T). It would be nice if the kitchen was stocked with some basic supplies, such as oil, seasonings, salt and pepper. Also, the shower curtain rod needs to be hung securly. It fell on me once when pulling it closed. The hot tub area could use some attention. It needed to be swept and cleaned up.Overall I loved the casita and would come back to stay there. Price was perfect for what it provided me. A great place to stay if you do not want to be in the hustle of the Plaza. I took the train from ABQ and was able to walk from the railyard. About 10 minutes. Infact I never rented a car and walked all over the plaza area and accompaning neighborhoods. Which provided me a feel for Santa Fe.
I stayed in Casa Bonita two nights then moved over to Casa Chiquita for three nights. I've already reviewed Bonita elsewhere so I'll stick to Chiquita here...It's a quaint adobe compound with a short, easy walk to the plaza that I much appreciated. The unit itself was clean, quiet, and compactly cute. However it is also cave-like and very dark. There were two portable air conditioners taking up valuable space and not doing a great job. The kitchen was freezing, the bedroom was hot. I'd recommend putting in a window air conditioner and some light colored fabrics on the few small windows that exist so that there is privacy but also a bit more natural light.Overall I did like Chiquita but I'm not sure I could stay there more than a few days without going a little nutty.
We found this property on the VRBO website and the photos and description were right on. Very convenient with a short 10 minute walk to the square with many shopping and dining options. Two small dissapointments: the window air conditioning unit that was installed with plywood in the kitchen area blocked any natural light, and an exhaust fan in the bathroom would have been nice. We truly enjoyed our visit to Santa Fe which left us wanting more and will definitely look to stay at this property in the future.
The VRBO site quote was $89 per night (we stayed two nights); we were chraged $99 per night; an enail seekig correction and credit to Shalimar went unresponded to. Since I am a litigation attorney, I will take action on this to collect if the refund is not forthcoming including notifying the SF BBB and Dun & Bradstreet whom we deal with regularly ! Please confirm the credit. MGB
The DVD player in the room was not functional and the WiFi was not as well. Had to get weak and unreliable WiFi from neighbor unit.
Overall it was cute and cozy however it was not very clean. The floors weren't clean nor was the toilet! I cleaned both myself. Also only one robe was in the closet and it had a big tear in the shoulder...we did not use it. I would recommend a good spring cleaning there as it really needs it! Thanks for asking and yes I would stay there again and recommend it because it is close to the Plaza and quite Santa Fe. :-)
Casita Chiquita is small but comfortable - great for two. We enjoyed being within walking distance of the Plaza, but the neighborhood was not the best. From the listing, we were under the impression that we would have a private hot tub, but it was actually shared among 4-5 rentals. However, we were the only ones who ever used it, so it worked out fine. We couldn't get our stove or heater to work, but it wasn't that cold, so we didn't call anyone to come look at it. The casita was decorated very nicely, and we definitely enjoyed the flat screen T.V. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and a great value, and we would definitely stay there again.
Management office was very difficult to get ahold off. Made me nervous about staying there in the beggining but overall was very nice. We enjoyed it very much!
The Casita Chiquita has a lot of potential. The location is unbeatable. Easy walking distance to the Plaza and the local grocery stores makes this aspect hard to beat. The casita is small, but that alone is not surprising or frustrating. Unfortunately, the use of space is questionable. The swamp cooler is huge, sits in the middle of the living/dining room, and is not very effective. Additionally the duct tape securing its hose/tube to the aluminum window is not the most esthetically pleasing aspect of the property. The television which we did not use is another appliance that takes up a lot of the availabe space, adding to the cramped feel of things and the arrangement of the cords to the device does not help. The linens and towels were nice and clean, but some of the cookware and glassware needed to be rewashed before using. We brought a dog, which I am aware means a lot of extra vacuuming for the housekeepers, but I must say that the the presence of crushed potato chips and bobby pins on the rug gave me the impression that the casita had not been vacuumed at all before we checked in. Finally there was no toilet paper when we checked in. I made a phone call and this was quickly rectified. The instructions for the the wifi were for a different property, and when I called to ask, my call was never returned. This was not a big inconvenience, but a return call wouldn't have been too difficult either. Santa Fe is an expensive town, and the location was great, so the rate we paid was fair. I would even say it was a great rate, except that occupancy is less than in the past. Vacationers do have choices and the high potential of this property is compromised by the slapdash, half-assed execution of the rental.
Good location and quiet. It was small (Casa Chiquita) but it was the cheapest. But for the second stay in a row the WiFi, despite frequent calls to the management, they were unable to get the WiFi going.
